This little Leah went to market

We took a walk with our friend and neighbor, Galit to the Green Market near Grand Army Plaza. On the way we stopped in our tracks to look at the beautiful flowers and thought - "photo opp"!

Leah and Jackie

Last week, Leah's 8 month old cousin, Jackie Beth came in from Denver to meet Leah (and to ditch town during the DNC). She arrived with a posse - her Grand-dad Gary, GrandMelen and mother, Mindy came to Brooklyn to take (drag?) Jeremy and Jess and Leah out of the apartment and into some sunshine! A delightful lunch (with sangria) was had by all (no sangria for Jackie and Leah, of course).

Their first meeting wasn't all that exciting, to be honest but we know future meetings be they on the slopes of Colorado or in the living room of Bedford, will provide lots of good times and family moments.

Here are the photos of Leah and her cousins.

Me and Grandma Linda

Grandma Linda and Grandpa Saul came back to Brooklyn to see Leah today. Here's a great photo of Linda - looking good today! - and her grand-daughter. As you can see from the sheetless mattress in the background. . .Leah made her mark on her parent's bed the night before.

Two weeks old

Aunt Liza's still here for a few more days. Leah and Liza bonded. See above.

Red Sox Nation

Has a new member!!
Leah is ready for the game today and here she is saying - if they don't win all three against the Yankees (the last Boston-NY series in the House that Ruth built) then she will not be happy!

Playmate of the month

I know it sounds sordid. But it really isn't. We went to the park and we met up with our friends Aliza, Mike and their new arrival, Orli Shoshana. Orli was born 4 days before Leah so she'll obviously serve as a great resource for Leah as she gets older. Orli was also born on her due date (August 10) and also was jaundice so she had to stay in the hospital a few days longer than her mommy - just like Leah. That may be where the similarities end as you can see above - these two newborns have different strollers and very different (but both extremely cute) little faces.

The dads were great and took the strollers (our new BOB is being hidden by Jeremy) so the moms could walk leisurely and rehash their birth stories. Oh joy.

Bath - B-A-T-H - Bath.

This morning we gave Leah her first full-fledged bath in the little baby tub on loan from friends Benny, Dr. Vicky, Galia and Neve (thanks, guys!). Of course we have cleaned her several times since she has been out here in the world, but never has she been placed - tushie first - in water. Girl didn't like it much but the big kudos go to Mom and Dad (thank you very much) for keeping their cool as their sweetie pie screamed and screamed. Afterwards, we put her in this outfit from Grandma Linda and boy, does she love it! (She is still sleeping as this post is being written a few hours later). It keeps her nice and warm and shows what a girlie girl she is. Have I mentioned lately how much we love her?!?!

GranMel

Grandma Melanie came to Brooklyn straight from the airport today. She didn't go home to NJ first, didn't stop anywhere on the way. . . she put the pedal to the metal to see her little grand daughter Leah. (She had already held Leah and seen her at the hospital but this was so different.)

Leah's outfit today is compliments of her crafty Cousin Cory. Cory tie-dyed a bunch of onesies so Leah can show her true hippie chick colors!! Cory hasn't even met Leah yet (gifts were brought via Cousins Mindy and 8 month old Jackie) but is already outfitting and loving her new cousin!!

Strapped in for the ride that is Childhood

Sure she is a newborn but childhood is around the bend. . .
Straight and to the point Leah data: She was gifted a bouncy seat (thanks Aunt Liza and Uncle Glen) and we put her in it today. She was kinda into it. To be continued. . . .

xxoo to UG (Uncle Glen) for the blog post title AND for wanting credit for it

I think, therefore, Ergo

Before Leah was born we bought many different items for her and to help us to take of her. One of those items is an Ergo Carrier which will let us carry her on our person throughout the neighborhood. The thing is a little complicated (well, to Mom it is) and so we decided to practice in the apartment so we could get used to it - putting it on, putting Leah in it, etc. Well, Leah's dad did that and Mom watched and helped when necessary (like when it came to picture taking time).

Here are cute photos of Leah and her dad "rehearsing" for future outings together.

Best dressed newborn

Cousin Susan bought Leah adorable mis-matched socks. We think they are the greatest and Leah wore a pair today - though they are not a pair - they are mis-matched! Shabby chic, don't you think? Even better, they stayed on until we took them off - as opposed to finding one that had fallen off somewhere in her crib or in the apartment.
Here's a little photo shoot showing off the purple ones.

Below Leah is saying to herself, "Why don't my socks match?!" Maybe the kitsch is too advanced for a ten day old.

Here's a photo of when Leah and Susan first met on Thursday, August 21 - when Leah was one week old.

Grandpa Mike and Aunt Jenn

Today was a visit from Grandpa Mike and Aunt Jenn. But first they stopped at Harold's to bring Leah's parents an obscene amount of delicious food. Like totally obscene. The tuna fish salad sandwich can definitely feed a family of 4 for a few days. Luckily Leah's dad doesn't like tuna fish salad so Leah's mom is psyched the leftovers are all for her especially because she didn't really eat it during her pregnancy (mercury and all. . .)
We spoke to Grandma Melanie on the phone and she can't wait to come see Leah later this week!!

Leah and her Long Island Grandparents

Grandpa Saul, Grandma Linda and Aunt Liza came to Brooklyn today to hang with little Leah. They brought sooo many diapers and wipes you'd think Leah's parents were setting up a nursery for twins or triplets!!

Leah got a little milk drunk by Mommy.

Motherhood

Today was the most fun yet! Yes, each day it gets better being with Leah. There were stretches of time when she wasn't sleeping or eating. She sat on Mommy and Daddy's laps, we placed her on an activity mat and we just stared at her for a long while. And when we weren't staring at her - she was sleeping in her crib, let's say - well, then I would be staring at pictures of her on my computer!!!!

First outing: To the pediatrician we go!

Mom, Dad and Leah headed out to the pediatrician for her first visit. It was the most beautiful day weather wise and we were happy to get a professional opinion about our perfect girl.
Dr. Gordon was the first non family member/stranger to call us "parents" and it surprised me. I thought to myself - "Huh? They are here, too?!" Ha. She was of course referring to Leah's dad and I!

When we got ready to leave, Dad made her look like Swiss Miss so a photo was definitely necessary!!!

ALL WEEK

Leah's Aunt Liza flew in from London the day after she was born to spend time with Grandma Linda, Grandpa Saul, Mommy, Daddy and who are we kidding?!?! little LEAH!!!!

She held Leah and regaled her with stories about her home across the pond.
Leah has also heard about her Uncle Glen with the funny voice and mad passion for sports (cricket and football) we all kinda scratch our heads at. We do it lovingly though.

Leah is five days old

And getting cuter by the minute. Here she is enjoying a snooze on her Boppy pillow and near her "big bro", our cat, Duncan.

Hey Mom, snap away. My eyes are open and I am ready for a photo with Dad.
