Watermelon Part Deux

Leah loves watermelon! Here she was enjoying it at her friend, Cal's birthday party. (notice the pants covered in watermelon juice!) We only wish we had video-recorded her whining when we took the rind away - she wanted to eat that, too! (ok, ok she did eat a little of it and really would a video of her whining be that cute?! ok, ok, maybe it would have been)

The shot above is not too different from when she had watermelon for the first time (ever!) earlier this summer - shown here. She's wearing the same outfit!!

Work it, Leah!

Every Monday morning this summer, Leah and mom head to the park while mom works out with Vivian's mom. Here the girls have pricked their fingers and made a pact - one day they will workout together. But first, they have to conquer walking!!

Another explanation of when to call your baby a "toddler"

When your little girl begins to wear two pigtails instead of one ponytail!!

(the other definitions are when your baby starts walking or turns one)

We are going to show Leah this photo when she says, "Hey Mom, hey Dad. . . what do I look like with my eyes closed?"

Compilation of Leah

On her first birthday, approaching the Brooklyn Children's Museum.
Notice her T-shirt. "1"
And notice her left hand. "Keys!"

The day before her birthday, reading through some celebratory cards received in the mail.

Enjoying her new butterfly table and chairs.

Pizza!!!

Many months ago when we realized Leah would one day turn 1, we decided that on that day we'd celebrate by taking her to our favorite pizza place, DiFara's in Bay Ridge. When that day finally came, we also decided to take Leah to the Brooklyn Children's Museum first. So, when it was time for DiFara's she slept. She slept and Dad waited. And he waited. And 90 minutes later we had a pizza pie we took to go.
Here is Leah chomping on the crust of her slice.

Happy Birthday, Leah!!

We are speechless. Our little girl is one? Really? Are you sure?
I mean, we are not questioning her sophistication one bit but well, a cliche is a cliche for a reason and boy, does time move fast!

Here she is enjoying the park on a beautiful Saturday. She's one year and one day old!!

We revisit the beer garden, this time for a birthday celebration!!

Leah's friend Cole celebrated his first birthday in style at the beer garden in Williamsburg. Woo hoo!
Some shots (of Leah) from the day are below.
And our first visit, back in October, was well-documented in this post.

And Happy Birthday, Cole!!

Photos

Captions for the photos below are in order of appearance (and in order of occurrence).

Leah with her favorite cracker (Baby Mum-Mums - fun to say fast!) in her first shopping cart experience (at Lowe's).

The sprinklers at the 3rd Street playground. Woo hoo!

And the final three, taking a break from hiking near State Line Lookout (the states being New York and New Jersey not perhaps say the state of despair and state of happiness though part of the reason for the hike was the despair of the concrete jungle we felt and the state of happiness caused by seeing green and breathing some fresh non-urbanized air!)

August = Birthdays!!

Check it.

A birthday party celebrating Summer 2008 babies! Lee and her mom are in the middle. Leah in pink, mom in white and light blue skirt.

There were about 30 of Leah's friends (and parents) gathered to memorialize the amazing year we've all had.
Leah has 12 days until her real birthday but we brought in her birth month with a lot of fun!!
